CO 436 – Sharing the Economy: Uber, AirBnb and More



“Gig” workers are spread across diverse occupational groups and oftentimes are not readily identifiable. Sometime too that is true with the “sharing economy”. Whether your customer is a “gig” worker, an Uber driver, a home-sharing participant or some similarly employed individual there are a number of concerns: who is providing the needed insurance coverage, are they employees or independent contractors, does their auto insurance provide them with coverage, how about their homeowners or renters policy? We’ll look at each of these areas and see what ways are at our disposal to solve their insurability issues…and what we cannot provide as well.
