CPWC (Claims Practitioner in Workers’ Compensation) is a 24 module certification program developed to meet the needs of emerging claims practitioners. This program offers comprehensive training in foundation principles required to become a certified California WC Claims Adjuster and provides the required 120 classroom hours. Presented at a practical desk level, this curriculum includes learning tools such as case studies and soft skills along with technical information. Components of the CPWC will also help fulfill certification requirements for California WC Medical Review or Medical Only adjusters.
Module 1 – Introduction-Worker’s Compensation origins and overview
In this introductory course module, you will learn the circumstances and issues prompting the development of Worker’s Compensation laws, how those issues were addressed with the passage of Worker’s Compensation laws, and how those issues are addressed currently. You will also learn the overall structure and purpose of the Workers Compensation laws and administrative regulations, as well as the benefits available under the Workers Compensation statutes. Practically, you will learn to help employers understand the valuable protections provided under Workers’ Compensation.
